1月中旬、寒波の後の白馬へGO。当日も二度目の寒波につつまれる中、雪の上信越道を何とか通り越し、白馬へ。

愛しの爺が岳

●爺が岳までの雪道をゆく

白馬山麓の南端に位置する爺が岳。白馬の中では初心者向けということで、パートナが早くから目をつけていて、早割も買っているほどの注目株なスキー場。周りの山頂系ビッグゲレンデがオープンするなか、なかなか積雪がなく心配したが、1月中旬に漸くオープン。120cmの余裕の積雪と訪問前夜の降雪で素晴らしいコンディション。

ゲレンデは意外に広かった印象。メインのエコーゲレンデは初心者、ファミリー向けの広々バーン。全体的に奥行きもあって、なかでもかもしかコースは中級者がのびのびカービングできる好バーンでテンションが上がる。。。反対側のラビットコースは非整備エリアのよう。新雪をモフモフ崩しながら森の中を抜けていくのが愉快だ。

他のゲレンデニ比べ、ごった返すこともなく、初心者・中級者が落ち着いてクルーズを愉しめる予想外にいいスキー場だ。施設はやや古さがあるものの、懐かしさもあって親しみが持てる雰囲気がある。

ケイズハウス白馬アルプス

シーズン何度も行くとなるとコスト配分は重要なポイント。宿泊施設でのやりくりは必須だ。今回お世話になったケイズハウス白馬アルプスは、そんなユーザにマッチした施設。

24h空いている共有スペースは広くのんびりとした雰囲気。コーヒーは飲み放題でリラックスできる。ユーザは外国人が殆どといってよく、聞こえる会話は殆どが英語でさながら外国に来たような雰囲気が愉しい。白馬は例年多くの外国人が訪れるが、その醍醐味を味わえる。プランは素泊まりベース。五竜の麓にあり、少し歩くと幾つかのレストランやピッツアハウスが目にとまった。

農カフェで夕食

我々はコストバランスの観点から夕飯はさっと済ませたい。そんななか立ち寄ったのが農カフェ。農家の営業するお店で地の素材が味わえる。お店に派手さはないがしっかり美味しい。

イベンティヴな訪問であれば白馬駅周辺、または五竜麓のレストランやバーがいいのだろうけれど、素朴なステイを過ごしたい方にはおすすめできる。林檎のサン富士やしなのゴールドが一個100円というのも安かった。（サミットでは160円くらいするのだ）

LION cafeで朝食

翌朝のブレックファストに選んだのは白馬駅から少しのぼった場所にあるライオンカフェ。バーガーやサンドイッチをメインにしたカフェだ。

白馬はもはや外国と言っていいほど外国人が多いが、このお店も例外ではない。朝10時くらいに訪問してから次々と外国人がやってくる。ふと思ったのが、外国ではこれが普通なのではないか。自国民だけがいる国って少ないんじゃないか、こうした交流がこれからは当たり前になるのかもしれない。

栂池高原のスケールに感動

昨年のクリスマスに訪れたときとは桁違いの積雪。栂池高原の本物を味わうために再訪。前回は鐘なるゲレンデすらオープンしていなかった。その鐘鳴るはスゴい。一つの大きなバーンになんとクワッドリフトが左右真ん中と3つも配置されている超・ワイドなゲレンデなのだ。滑ってみると広がりが半端ない。人もある程度いるものの、広さに吸収され密度が低く安心して滑れる。

【からまつコース】

ゴンドラから山頂へ、栂の森ゲレンデからのクルーズは中級者以上。林間コースがあるものの、しまっているケースも多いのと、メイン系は結構斜度がある（ハンの木の下部など）ので、上手く滑れなくても基礎体力があってアクティブに動けるパワーがあれば大丈夫だが、もしそうでないなら、鐘鳴る周辺が安全かもしれない。

しかし栂池のスケールは素晴らしい。山頂から麓までこれだけの広々としたスキー場はとても一日二日では堪能できないのが悔しい…

[:en]In middle Janualy,I had stay in Hakuba where the snowstorm have gone. Through Joshinetsu Express way with hard condition of snow,I got there somehow.

Jiigatake the Local Hakuba

●going the way toward Jiigatake

Southern part of main area of Hakuba,Jiigatake is there.It is one of more for beginners of other Hakuba area.My partner’s been caught the information since before so that gettin the advance notice discount ticket(not Happo-one or Goryu and other famous area!)

We felt nervous that it doesn’t open though other area did one by one.(Jiigatake area locates lower base,so if it snows,usually soon thaws.) But this time,it was much snow by the snowstorm,and also snowed through the night before we got there,it was so good condition with powder snow!

I had a impression that the slope of Jiigatake is wider than ever thought.Especially the main slope called “Echo Slope” is very wide so it is good for beginners and families.Jiigatake area has more depth than i thought,most notably,”KAMOSHIKA SLOPE”will high your tension up for carving smoothly.On the other side,the “RABBIT COURSE” is not much pressed slope,it is fun to run through the Raw Powder Snow!

Compare to other big area around Hakuba,there are less people that beginners and mid class riders comfortably enjoy fine cruise.Jiigatake is more nice slope beyond expectation.The centre house is little old,but i like the mood bringing me back when I was child.

K’s House Hakuba ALPS

For heavy users,cost management is important thing.It is needed that staying cost is to be moderate in price.K’s House is much for the users so.

We see the share space very commodious,opening 24hours.Coffee or Tea are free to take,we relaxed in that room.The users of this lodge is almost foreign people for Japanese,I enjoy the conversations heard around that made me feel been the foreign country.Many foreign people visit Hakuba every season,we can feel like to be out of Japan.There are some Pizza House or restaurant by the some minutes walk.

Meal at agricultural cafe “NOU-CAFE”

We take light meal in dinner from a cost point of view.The agricultural cafe called “Nou-Cafe”（”agriculture” is called “NOU-GYOU”in Japanese,so the name “Nou-” is given from this.）We can taste local & so delicious vegetables and meat even though the shop’s looks is very simple.

It is true that it’s good the restaurant or bar near Hakuba station or Goryu’s Base area if you visit Hakuba on purpose of rare event but if you want to Simply and locally stay,I recommend this type of shop.

Breakfast @LION cafe

We choose Lion Cafe placed on the light slope from Hakuba station.We can order Humbergers or sandwiches mainly.

So many foreign people is seen in Hakuba,this shop is also in that case.When we’ve gat relaxing around 10o’clock,they came in one after another.I thought that it is normal that foreign people is around.In Japan,there are basically Japanese people,and we think it is normal.But from now on, those situation will be usual in Japan.

Amazing of Tsugaike’s Scale

It was much more snow than when we visited there in Christmas Day last year in Tsugaike-Kogen.Main slope called “KANENONARU-SLOPE” wasn’t opened last time.But it is amazing that Kanenonaru-Slope’s scale.It has HUGE field in base area,and is so wide,there are three quad lift!Many visitors’s riding on that slope,but because of the scale,I don’t feel bustle.

It is so amazing…I had little regret that I can’t enjoy the big area in one or two days at all.
